Season 10 apprentice company
Five fresh faces have been chosen to join us for the year and we are so honored to work with them. Lilo Alfaro, Kristopher Adams, Alexa Jordan, Kayla Kelly, and Tina Mascaro - welcome to the Portland Playhouse family!
Tina was born in Pittsburgh, PA and raised in Chesapeake, VA. She is loving all of the hiking trails, waterfalls, and wild blackberries in Oregon. Tina earned her BA in Vocal Performance at Virginia Tech where she had the opportunity to be a part of the premiere of The Three Feathers, a new children’s opera. After graduation, she was blessed to be in The Little Mermaid with Virginia Musical Theatre and spend a season with Regent University, performing in Oklahoma!, Out West, and The Seagull. Tina also sings and dances in music videos for Superbook Academy. She is currently in the process of writing a series of musicals about women in the Bible. 1 Corinthians 10:31
Kristopher was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He graduated cum laude from Carver Magnet High School as the chair of his theatre troupe. He then went on to the University of Evansville to major in Theatre Performance for a year and a half, until he ran into a huge issue with financial aid in November of 2016 and decided it would be best to just withdraw. Coming back to Houston from scratch, Kristopher got a job as a bartender and scavenged the internet for internships and apprenticeships, which was very difficult due to being 19 going on 20 and not having a college degree. After numerous rejections, Portland Playhouse gave him a call and offered him a position. He thanks God for not letting him fall.
Lilo is a stage manager from Orange County, CA. She recently graduated from California State University, Fullerton, where she worked on plays, musicals, operas, and dance concerts, but initially got her start in theatre stage managing haunted houses. Now an MBA student at Portland State University, she is delighted to continue her work in the arts as part of Portland Playhouse's apprentice company and experience the diverse theatre scenes Oregon has to offer.
Kayla Kelly recently graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University, with a BA in Arts. She's from Houston, Texas. She loves playwriting, improving, and sketch comedy. She's thankful to be working along Portland Playhouse this season and is excited for what the year has in store.
