Ebenezer Scrooge

Based in Seattle, Charles played Spirit 2 seven times at ACT Theatre (2002-2014) and Scrooge in 2015, when ACT celebrated its 50th Anniversary Season and the 40th anniversary of their Christmas Carol adaptation. Recent Portland credits: Andrew Undershaft in Major Barbara and Sorn in Stupid Fucking Bird at Portland Center Stage. 

Charles is a three-time nominee (Ray, Yankee Tavern, ACT, 2010; Lennie, Of Mice and Men, Seattle Repertory Theatre, 2011) and recipient (Shylock, The Merchant of Venice, Seattle Shakespeare Company, 2009) of the Theatre Puget Sound “Gregory” Award for Outstanding Actor, and has twice (2009 and 2015) been nominated for the Stranger Genius Award.  In and around Seattle, Charles has also worked at Intiman Theatre, Seattle Children’s Theatre (where he just finished playing Joe Martin in Idris Goodwin's And in This Corner, Cassius Clay), Book-It Repertory Theatre, The Village Theatre, 5th Avenue Theatre Company, and many smaller local companies.  His voice work includes over fifteen audio books (mostly for Seattle’s Cedar House Audio) and several gratuitously violent video games.  His poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in over four dozen publications nationwide and abroad, and has twice been nominated for the Pushcart Prize.
