We need you

The restoration of our historic church is nearing completion.  We've updated the building into a beautiful and functional space for our audience, actors and neighbors in the King community.

We have raised about 91% to our $2.4 million goal. What's left? Now that we've made our make building a comfortable place to see a play, we are looking ahead to the start of the community building and workshop that will be built in our side yard.  The new building will allow us to host community events, classes, rehearsals and build sets outside of the often occupied theatre space.

You can still contribute to this addition to our neighborhood, to help us grow our theatre community now and for years to come.  Find out more about the renovation and restoration plan and process here

February 3, 2018 -  Hello, stained glass window! Its good to see again!  The floors in the theatre space lay smooth and even, the kitchenette has new tile and the office space is shaping up with the new reception desk and reclaimed wood accents.  We really cannot wait to move in!

January 20, 2018 - New tile, taps and toilets are installed in the bathrooms. Counter tops make their way to their proper place.

January 8, 2018 - Things are really moving along now.  New sheetrock gives a fresh appearance in every space from the downstairs offices and kitchenette to the line of new bathrooms and walls of the entrance spaces.  Crisp, clean and nearly ready for a coat of finishing paint.

December 13, 2017 - All major systems are in - including updated electrical and a new HVAC system that will allow for quiet, cool AC during the warmest months.   As Artistic Director Brian Weaver stated about "Phase 1" on a tour with supporters "Now we just need to make it look pretty."

October 5, 2017 - Oregon's Daily Journal of Commerce's gives a peak behind the Playhouse doors and words on the renovation from Brian Weaver and our partners SERA Architects, Colas Construction and Shapiro Didway Landscape Architecture.

September 25, 2017 - The office space downstairs is shaping up!  The space for our Development Director Elena Hein gets some sun in the photo on the right.

September 14, 2017 - Here is the view from the kitchen to the green room and a shot of the windows to our new conference room!

September 5, 2017 - We are "beaming" with pride!  The new structural beam that carries the weight of 1/3 of the church is in and looking strong!  Framing has gone up on the hallway to the bathrooms, the dressing rooms and a few of the offices.

August 25, 2017 - One of the most anticipated improvements has started - the bathrooms!  Bigger, better, and more for everyone!  We've also braced up the big support beam downstairs to give us strength.

"Before" - A few shots of the Playhouse stripped down and ready for renovation, plus one photo of a particularly rough looking beam that will get some special attention in the coming weeks.   (B&W photo credit: Matthew Kerrigan)
