2017-18 apprentice company
The year with our small but mighty 2017-18 Apprentice Company is quickly drawing to a close. We are happy to say they have all booked work in Portland for this summer!
Before they move on, join us for an hour of solo performances crafted and performed by these three wonderful women.
Monday, June 11, 2018
at 2:00 and 7:00 pm
This event is free and open to the public.
However, if you would like to secure a seat by making a donation to our Apprentice Company, you can!
Lilo brings us two interludes in the Solo Show program:
"Spoil the Children" (music/lyrics by Matthew Capurro) is from Sides, a new, work-in-progress musical, this song is modeled after the mother I aspire to be.
"Speed Date" Parts 1 & 2 (music/lyrics by Matthew Capurro) is another one from Sides. "This not-so-solo scene segment shows that I am good at following rules. It includes a song well embodied by good friend Tina Mascaro, with interjections from the hilarious and wonderful Kayla Kelly."
Up next: Lilo takes on the role of Assistant Stage Manager of Profile Theatre's The Secretaries, June 14 - July 1.
"I've recently started over on my solo show, and it has been a inspiration for me. It serves as a representation for my life, a fresh start with a new foundation. These last couple months have really allowed me to learn about myself.
"My show is centered around, the women I'm becoming and accepting me for who I am."
Up next: Kayla stars as Benvolio in Portland Actors Ensemble's Romeo and Juliet, July 1 - 29.
What brings you joy? What makes your soul sing? What brings you to life when you think no one's looking? Journey with the Dancer as she comes to life and ventures out of her comfort zone in search of her heart song.
Tina Mascaro trekked across the country from Virginia Beach, VA to be an apprentice at Portland Playhouse this year. She was most recently seen singing and playing several instruments in A Christmas Carol and Scarlet. This summer Tina is going home for a month where she’ll record and perform in a music video of an original song for Superbook Academy. When she returns to Portland in August you can see her as Jasmine in Aladdin at Broadway Rose. Thank you to Nikki and all the staff at Portland Playhouse for making this such an incredible year!
